In the Work Package Modeling of GHG emissions the effects of the new cultivation and forest management methods will be estimated as part of the national GHG emissions in Finland. By using models that illustrate the peatland carbon cycle, estimates may be made for predicting the future emissions after implementing the new methods.
The aims are
- To further develop the peat soil models to apply to managed peat soils and respond to new cultivation and forestry methods. The model work is done at the Natural Resource Institute Finland and the University of Helsinki
- To produce estimates for the GHG emissions from agricultural and forest peat soils for the years 2018-2050 presuming that a) the present or b) new methods are used in Finland
