The leading strengths of Finnish meat production are animal health and welfare. The animal disease situation is very good in European comparison. This is not merely due to the northern location, but also to joint, long-term animal disease prevention efforts by the Finnish meat sector operators and the authorities. There are very few residues and prohibited substances in Finnish products of animal origin.

The key strengths of the fisheries sector are sustainable fishing and fish farming. Finnish fisheries are about to qualify for several sustainability certificates. Fish feed from the Baltic Sea enables more ecological fish farming in the same sea.
