The international and national climate regulation is transforming and the LULUCF sector is becoming more important within the EU. In the summer of 2016 the European Commission gave a statute proposition on including the LULUCF sector in the EU Energy and Climate framework. The actions taken within the LULUCF sector will facilitate the realization of the Paris agreement within the EU.
The aims within the project are
- To systemize and analyze the content and meaning of the new regulations for the forestry and climate politics and the aims of the bioeconomy in Finland
- To evaluate the legislative preconditions that the regulations put on the new mitigation methods with special focus on the effects on the SOMPA project.
- To identify the above mentioned entities and the challenges as well as opportunities connected to these regulations
