WP1 is designed to develop and provide tools, methods and practices for taking indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) into account in land-use planning and decision making.

ILK refers to the knowledge, innovations and practices of indigenous and local communities. The work package aims to respond to serious gaps in integrating ILK to land use planning processes by making values of local people visible and concrete and recognizing them spatially by participatory GIS tools. Best practices guidelines will be created on the basis of accumulated data and effective utilization of critical mass of the project expertise from all working packages.
