In 2019, 8.73 million cubic meters of wood was imported to Finland from Russia. The total wood imports increased by two per cent, while the volume of wood imported from Russia increased by six per cent.

Of the wood imported from Russia, 53 per cent was pulpwood, 34 per cent wood chips and four per cent logs. Imports of chips (+30%) and softwood (+11%) increased, whereas imported volumes of softwood logs decreased by 16% and hardwood logs by 70%. Imports of hardwood pulpwood also decreased by two per cent.

Russia’s share of Finnish wood imports was 74 per cent, three per cent higher than on the previous year.
